Openstack Install Part 1

This is the Installation of open stack Essex as part of my final year project for CNSM4 at the LIT.

This tutorial shows how to install OpenStack on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS in under an hour.

This installation also includes tips and other information to quickly install and deploy OpenStack using VMWare Workstation.

This video also is from the start to finish and unedited. In addition, this video also provides a real world example how to install a basic Private Cloud infrastructure using a single machine.

    thank you very much

  2. Haha good stuff bobby. Nice project.. I’m hoping to get a blog going soon
will detail info and instructions relating to openstack. I will drop you a
line when I do. Let me know how you get on

  3. Hey Bobby…. The aim of my project was to explore existing cloud
technologies to enhance business operations. I implemented my own cloud
using a number of machines. It was essentially a test bed created to
    analyse it’s benefits…

  4. Hey man, interested to know what you did for your project ? Im in UL up the
road, have my FYP starting next September, I’m thinking of creating a web
front end for UL CSIS students, where they can spin up their own vm’s or
containers and remote into them from home, was thinking openstack would be
useful in the back end… but i havent looked too much into, its all just
an idea in my head, not even related to nay modules on my course, but
something Im interested in..cloud & visualization etc,

  5. Hi,
I run into an issue with the bootstrapping step. when i run the
openstack-install the container creation takes only about 80 seconds, but
the bootstrapping run for more than a 1000 seconds before i stopped it. do
you have any idea on why is that.
P.S i have a virtual machine with the drive hosted on the SAN

  6. Really cool video! Some of the issues you mentioned like seeing your
password in the bottom were design decisions from up top 🙂 I do agree
though it’s not desirable so maybe I can make a case to not have it listed
    in the future.

    Also please visit
    https://github.com/Ubuntu-Solutions-Engineering/openstack-installer and
post your bugs in the issues section! We’d love to hear your input and see
if we can accomodate any problems you run into!

  7. Hi Frank!
Thank you very much for your video! I want to ask next question. if i
reboot Ubuntu. I need to run:
    sudo openstack-install -u
    sudo openstack-install
and wait for the whole time of installation?
    can I make it easier?

    Regards,
    Konstantin
